Bangalay Luxury Villas welcomes renowned artist Julie Paterson “Back to Bangalay”.
Julie is a painter, printmaker and designer of textiles. Her work is featured throughout Bangalay Luxury Villas and Bangalay Dining as a second collaboration project with Bangalay owner and Interior Designer Michelle Bishop. Julie became known to Michelle in the late 1990’s when as an Interior Design Student she visited Julie’s CLOTH FABRIC Redfern Studio. Since then, Michelle and Julie have collaborated on 2 projects including a luxury residential development project in Sydney’s Lower North Shore and Bangalay Luxury Villas.
In 2018 Julie spent time in Shoalhaven Heads understanding the local landscape and endemic Bangalay Sand Forest to inform the artwork commission for Bangalay Luxury Villas. Julie created a series of artworks which were later made into print screens to create the work. The Plywood used for the artwork was reclaimed from the building process, something that Michelle and Julie have been able to do in each project collaboration. Julie was a winner of the Meroogal Art Prize and has an exhibition running from Saturday 2 July – Saturday 27 August 2022.

Join Julie Paterson on a bushwalk through the Bangalay Sand Forest on Seven Mile Beach and join in creating a collaborative ephemeral sculpture. Hear about Julie’s creative process in developing the art concepts for Bangalay Luxury Villas and other boutique resorts across Australia.
